Week 21 in a nutshell

Appreciation is perhaps the ultimate reward for hard work. During a bike tour with Alpha Cycling Holidays, quality and safety come first. Next is that we want to give people a nice experience and ultimately a beautiful memory. It is important to us that everyone has a good time and that there is a lot of laughter. You guys make our day.

The past few days have been fantastic again. We kicked off the week with a fully booked Farm Bike Tour, where the beekeeper enthusiastically released the honey. No money no honey! The second visit at the olive oil farm was also very tempting. After an interesting presentation about the process from olive to olive oil, the tasting followed. All senses would be stimulated that day.

The next day our very first Taste & Bike Tour followed. An immediate success. We enjoyed, listened, ate, drank and laughed. A cup of Greek coffee with Bougatsa, a demonstration of preparing Mandolas and of course there was tasting. A visit to the Farmer's Market was impressive. Those tomatoes here are so sweet and juicy. We burned the calories directly on the bike and continued to a local taverna for a traditional Greek lunch. Naturally, a nice, fresh, homemade ice cream could not be missed and the tour ended with this.

A last minute booking for the Wine Bike Tour was hilarious and interesting. One of our guests discovered level 2 of the support of her e-bike and took off. It took some effort to catch up with her again. A tour of the vineyard and family home followed. Then there was an unforgettable wine tasting of different grape varieties.

On Saturday a second Taste & Bike Tour with an enthusiastic, new group. At the same time, a group of Dutch people set off through Argostoli to various highlights. Intriguing and shocking stories were told during the various stops that were made, for example about the impact the earthquake had since 1953 till today on the island. A Polaroid and a delicious ice cream created some memorable moments.

The literal highlight followed early on Sunday morning: the climb of Mount Ainos on the road bike, with a visit to one of the best tavernas in Kefalonia, near the monastery of Saint Gerasimos, on the way back.

On to next week!
